This is a really nice theme. Tell me about the font trick you used :)

I just noticed it has a minor alignment issue are the search bar in IE 7.

  • ChefGaby September 16th, 2008 at 21:45 #

For the font I used sIFR3.

Thanks for pointing that glitch out. I will fix that in a new version probably. Its too small to fix now.

  • Deniz September 17th, 2008 at 07:06 #

There’s problem with turkish characters in sIFR . I cant see the characters . How can i solve it ? With the flv file ? Can you pls upload the fagocotf.flv . I didnt see it in theme . Or can you upload the new swf file with utf-8 characters ?

  • ChefGaby September 17th, 2008 at 18:40 #

Deniz, the font supports some UTF-8 characters but not all.
My suggestion is to strip the theme of all the sIFR3 javascript and use the theme without it. All the titles and colors will remain almost the same. It will still look good.

  • Nin September 18th, 2008 at 12:34 #

When I apply the theme to my website, the dates don’t work properly- all posts made within the same month all show the same date. I’m using the latest version of wordpress, and the version of the site I tested it on only had the very basic widgets (I always test on another site before I apply a theme to my blog).

Is there a way that I can fix this??

  • Nin September 18th, 2008 at 13:10 #

OK, I worked out how to fix it… I changed the ‘php the time’ tag things in the php templates from ‘m’ and ‘M’ to ‘j’ and ‘M’

  • Mike September 19th, 2008 at 11:33 #

    Hi, great theme…I love it!
I would like to create some images for my site with the font you used for the title. Can you please tell me where I can find that font?

  • ChefGaby September 19th, 2008 at 11:43 #
  • Travel September 21st, 2008 at 21:33 #

I love this theme very much. I changed the width a little by myself. I think it will be better if someone can provide a header picture. Now the right top conor looks too empty.

  • Travel September 23rd, 2008 at 23:05 #

Finally, I give up this theme. The speed is too slow. I think maybe sIFR is not a good enough so far.

  • ChefGaby September 23rd, 2008 at 23:24 #

You can delete the javascript files from the header and it will not use sIFR anymore.

  • beat September 25th, 2008 at 06:15 #

about date on a left side. no matter in witch date a post a message, there are “09 Sept”.

  • ChefGaby September 25th, 2008 at 10:28 #

I have the same version on the preview page and I don’t have a problem with the date.
See if the date is ok in the article.
    This is a strange problem.

  • Travel September 25th, 2008 at 11:25 #

    Hi, beat and GlamourGaby.
About the date, the reason is:
    In file:index.php, find line:

    you should change it to:

Also repeat what you do in file single.php

  • Travel September 25th, 2008 at 11:27 #

ooops…I cannot post the html code here.
just find the string: the_time(‘m’), and change it to the_time(‘d’)

  • ChefGaby September 25th, 2008 at 11:31 #

Oh, damn, I see the problem now.
Both php codes are for the same thing. One shows the month in numeric representation and the other shows the name of it.
    I will change it now.

  • ChefGaby September 25th, 2008 at 11:44 #

I fixed the theme. Please download it again from the link in the post.

  • Test September 26th, 2008 at 06:23 #

Excellent Theme. Cool trick with the fonts.

  • Rebekah September 26th, 2008 at 14:00 #

I’m moving to pretty soon and I loooove this theme.

Have you got any plans to make it work with custom headers, or perhaps a third column? I really want my design to have those two things, so I can put ads off to the side and not have a freakishly long sidebar, and use my little logo at the top. Thoughts?

  • ChefGaby September 26th, 2008 at 14:04 #

A third column or custom header are easy modifications.
I just build them how I think they look good. Its normal that some people have different needs from the theme.

  • Taufan September 26th, 2008 at 23:33 #

    Hi, nice theme, thanks..

    but, i’ve got little problem..
when i make a new page, there is no comment box..
how can i show the comment box in the new page..

  • Taufan September 26th, 2008 at 23:48 #

i’ve check the allow comment and ping, but still didn’t show..
    how can i fix it?

  • ChefGaby September 27th, 2008 at 03:26 #

    Delete the file page.php

  • Elle September 27th, 2008 at 10:42 #

    Hey GG! Love this theme.

Just discovered an IE6 glitch when doing a final test with several browsers. If you view your theme preview page in 6 (I don’t have 7 on my machine, so I don’t know if it happens there as well) you need to look at the line under the post title. The categories link takes the last two letters of the link and puts them on the next line even if there is more than enough room on the first line.

Any way of fixing that? 25% of my visitors use IE6, so I like to keep them happy!

  • ChefGaby September 27th, 2008 at 16:02 #

Elle, please download the theme again. I have fixed the bug.
    Thanks for telling me.

  • Elle September 27th, 2008 at 16:34 #

    Will do! Thank you.

  • julia October 1st, 2008 at 08:01 #

i like that theme – i used it on, a website dealing with modern family politics.

  • gabrielle October 1st, 2008 at 20:35 #

Well done!! I’m blown away by this theme, there’s nothing else even close to it on WP that I have seen. I really, REALLY want to use this because it matches the spirit of my blog so well, but I’ve noticed that it doesn’t look the same in Firefox. What could I do to make it the same across both browsers?

  • ChefGaby October 1st, 2008 at 21:04 #

Hi Gabrielle. Actually it should look the same.
Can you send me two print screens of the two browser you are using?

  • Taufan October 2nd, 2008 at 04:10 #

Hi Gaby, nice to visit your blog again..
By the way, for this theme, can i have the original one?
I mean, if you made this theme with Photoshop, can I get the .psd file?
Coz I want to change a little with the design..
    That’s all..

  • ChefGaby October 2nd, 2008 at 15:28 #

    Ahmm… I don’t think I have the psd anymore :P
Strange, but I can’t find it.
I must of deleted my “bella” work directory when I finished the coding.

  • krista October 3rd, 2008 at 17:56 #

ok – i am trying to use this for my very first website – so anyone can answer this question. please bear with me as i have very little coding experience, and i appreciate any help.

and thanks so much for theme – its beautiful!

i wanted to take off the time and date stamp, and i think i did that right.

however, i can get pages to work just fine. but i have made a post and put it in a category, but when i click on the link to the category from the side panel all i get is a blank page. any advice?

  • krista October 3rd, 2008 at 17:58 #

i forgot to add that when i click on view post, the them page comes up but my content comes up as an error

  • ChefGaby October 3rd, 2008 at 18:03 #

What did you set your permalinks to?

  • krista October 3rd, 2008 at 18:23 #

did i mention i didnt know what i was going ;)?

I didnt set them to anything

  • ChefGaby October 3rd, 2008 at 18:43 #

The link to your catory is like this:
You are missing an extra “/” there. Like this:
So somewhere you added or changed something.

  • Darren October 9th, 2008 at 17:09 #

New to WordPress but love this theme. I’ve installed it on my site, but it doesn’t look right in Firefox – I don’t seem to get any date or post title on my postings.

Also my links, eg the Right Hand “a blog is born” seems to be broken too.

Could all be my fault, being a complete novice at this!

  • ChefGaby October 9th, 2008 at 22:59 #

The date looks fine to me :)

  • PJ October 13th, 2008 at 00:56 #

Thanks for sharing! I love this theme! :)

  • Darren October 13th, 2008 at 04:26 #

I’ve taken a screenshot to illustrate the lack of date and title. (Note: although it’s quite obvious, this is Firefox 3.0 on a Mac. It seems to be OK on Safari on the same Mac and Firefox on my PC)

  • ChefGaby October 13th, 2008 at 07:29 #

That might be a sIFR3 problem.
I think the best way is to delete the javascript lines from the header. That way the theme will revert to normal text and should show normal in all browsers.

  • gianfalco October 16th, 2008 at 11:10 #

This theme is perfect for my cartoons, but with Fago font I don’t see some characters, as à, è. é, ì, ò, ù, who are most used in italian language.
    How can I resolve?
    Thanks and compliments.

  • ChefGaby October 16th, 2008 at 12:33 #

    Yes that is a problem.
The fastest solution would be to disable sIFR from replacing the text with another font.
Another solution would be to find another font that support diacritics. If you find such a font I would happy to help you out to switch the fonts.

  • tania October 16th, 2008 at 20:34 #

    Gorgeous theme!

I’m a newbie and will greatly appreciate any one guiding me to the right instructions on how to add an image for a header.

  • ChefGaby October 16th, 2008 at 20:39 #

Open the header.php file and insert your code instead of the h1 and h2 tags.

  • tania October 16th, 2008 at 22:12 #

Thanks a lot. I’m working on it now.

I have another ? in regards to posting comments. My settings are unchecked for comment moderation, still, how do I remove the “you must be logged in to comment” so that my blog visitors can comment without an account?

I promise I’ll leave you alone after this one. :)

  • ChefGaby October 16th, 2008 at 22:15 #

You don’t remove it. You just uncheck it and save the changes.

  • Fabi October 18th, 2008 at 14:14 #

    Hi there!
I’m a wp newbie, so forgive me if my problem sounds kinda dumb.
I just installed your amazing theme, but like Taufan, I can’t find the comment box and older comments.
I read your tip to delete the file page.php, but I can’t find it in the theme folder. Where’s it?
    Thanks! ;-)

  • ChefGaby October 18th, 2008 at 15:11 #

The files of the theme are in wp-content/themes/Bella/

  • Fabi October 18th, 2008 at 18:18 #

Thanks for your quick answer, but there’s no page.php in wp-content/themes/Bella/. What can I do?

  • ChefGaby October 19th, 2008 at 05:43 #

What exactly are you trying to do?
    Because I didn’t quite understand.

  • Fabi October 19th, 2008 at 09:02 #

Sorry if it’s confusing, english is not my first language. I’ll try to explain myself again: I installed your theme yesterday, but when I entered in the comment area, I can’t see the box to make a comment or older comments (it just show the newest one). I read here that, to solve this kind of problem with comments, I had to delete the “page.php” file, but there’s no “page.php” in the Bella’s folder.
So my question is: How can I fix this?
Thank you so much for your help!

  • ChefGaby October 19th, 2008 at 09:07 #

You entered the comment area where?
The admin panel? In an article url? In a page url?
Your blog is not working so I can’t check.

  • Fabi October 19th, 2008 at 12:52 #

You can check now, the blog is working.
Not the admin panel, I mean the link to make a new comment, but the article url will show you the problem too.
    For example here:
There’s 3 responses but I can only see the newest. And there’s no box to make a new comment.

  • ChefGaby October 19th, 2008 at 12:58 #

You must of edited something and you edited it wrong.
Copy the theme again and replace the file comments.php with the one you have in your theme directory.
If that doesn’t help then I can’t help you.
The problem is from something you edited or installed.

  • Fabi October 19th, 2008 at 14:50 #

    Ok, I’ll try that.
    Thanks for your help. ;-)

  • Aldo October 19th, 2008 at 14:53 #

Excelent theme! Mi wife love it.
But the trick font (fffago) doesnt work very much with spanish characters: á, é, í, ó, ú and ñ.
¿What can i do, how can i change the font, or the sIFR3, or the fla?
I don’t won’t simply “delete de java strip”, becose is “glamorous”
    Aldo, from Lima, Perú

  • ChefGaby October 19th, 2008 at 14:56 #

AS I said in a recent comment. If you find a font that you like and that support those characters then I can help you change the .swf file that has the font and we can see if it will work.

  • Jane October 23rd, 2008 at 08:07 #

Thank you for this theme! I will try it on my blog: I have just started and hope it will suite, especially translation!

  • Arthur October 26th, 2008 at 04:48 #

Seem to have a Javascript issue with this theme on Firefox 3.0.2 on Linux. It doesn’t replace the titles correctly or display the dates. From the Javascript console I get this error (repeated loads):-

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception… “Cannot convert WrappedNative to function” nsresult: “0x8057000d (NS_ERROR_XPC_CANT_CONVERT_WN_TO_FUN)” location: “JS frame :: :: anonymous :: line 18″ data: no]

If I disable Javascript the initial titles are placed correctly and look ok. That said the themes looks alright on IE and Firefox under Windows.

  • ChefGaby October 26th, 2008 at 04:50 #

I guess you will have to remove the javascript lines from the header and footer then. That way the theme won’t use sIFR anymore.

  • Tony October 26th, 2008 at 19:56 #

El diseño de la plantilla es EXCELENTE. MUY BUEN CRITERIO. Me surgieron dudas por la tipografia utilizada, que realmente también me llamó mucho la atención la misma y el tratamiento para aplicarla en el theme…
    Realmente MUY BUENO. :D

  • Jamie October 28th, 2008 at 14:27 #

    Hi GG-
Love the theme but for some reason when I installed it all that shows up on my site is the header, the date, the vertical color bar on the side and one horizontal bar. I am on a Mac and the file I downloaded said “pc zip file”. Would this make a difference?

  • ChefGaby October 28th, 2008 at 14:59 #

    Upgrade your wordpress installation.

  • Jamie October 28th, 2008 at 15:40 #

thank you! that solved the problem :)

  • The Net of Inter November 2nd, 2008 at 19:06 #

Hey Gaby. I didn’t hear back from you from email so I figured i’d comment here. Again….GREAT theme…simple, effective, colorful. beautiful. But i have two issues. The first and most important of the two is that about 25% of the time the headers don’t show up. I’m assuming that’s because there’s javascript to change the look of the headers? Do you know of this problem? anyone else having it? and the second is that i just activated the Lightbox 2 plugin for WordPress. Whenever the lightbox pops up, the image goes behind the headers. Also, probably because of the coding somehow. If you know of these issues and/or have a solution, please let me know as i love your theme and would really like to keep it.

  • Warren November 12th, 2008 at 19:59 #

Is Bella incompatible with Dum-Dum? I’m using WP 2.6.1, and while I can use Dum-Dum without any problems, I’ve attempted to load Bella twice but it doesn’t show up in my theme control panel…

  • ChefGaby November 13th, 2008 at 05:15 #

You can’t ask if Bella is compatible or not with Dum-Dum, it has no sense. They are two different themes.
Bella should show up in your themes directory. See if you have uploaded all the files and the directory structure is like this:

  • Wayne Smallman November 13th, 2008 at 11:47 #

Hi, great work with the theme.

How do I make the backgrounds to the text transparent?

I’m using a background image and I don’t want the white boxes.

  • chris December 1st, 2008 at 22:03 #

hi glamourgaby, fantastic work! how do i change the background to the same white colour as seen in your preview though? after installing i see the white boxes surrounding all the titles but the background is transparent, need to change that as white background makes my blog more readable. appreciate it!

  • Maye December 2nd, 2008 at 06:47 #

hey there! really nice theme u got here ;) I would just like to ask if how many widgets can be placed in the sidebar? i tried putting 8 text widgets but only 4 remained after saving it.

  • ChefGaby December 2nd, 2008 at 07:37 #

Please give me a URL so I can see how the theme look in your site and what the problem is.

The theme doesn’t restrict the number of widgets you can put in the sidebar.
Maybe its a problem from your wp installation.

  • Maye December 3rd, 2008 at 01:46 #

I’m using WP version 2.6.2. Do I need to upgrade to 2.6.5?

  • ChefGaby December 3rd, 2008 at 08:38 #

You don’t NEED to but its always good to upgrade to the latest version, because old versions have security flaws.

  • Cristian December 5th, 2008 at 00:21 #

    Great Work!!

I have a problem with the Titles in Bella, when I write a title with accents (á) it disappear…

    Thanks for read!.

  • shulace December 5th, 2008 at 21:06 #

Love the theme. I think I messes it up though, I tweaked the coding so it doesn’t show the category of an entry and removed the “pages” from the sidebar. Now, when I try to access the page on different computers the titles for the entries and sidebar don’t appear sometimes. But this other blog, that uses the same theme, there’s no problem with regards to titles appearing for her page. Help!

  • ChefGaby December 5th, 2008 at 21:11 #

The best idea is to download the theme again and try to do the changes again.
The other guy just knows html better than you :p

  • Ankebut December 13th, 2008 at 10:24 #

  • larcenette January 6th, 2009 at 05:57 #

I really like your wp theme, but as a french, I need the accents to made my text readable for the other french people :)
I’ve notice I need the flass software to change the font… Can you explain me how to do?
    Thx a lot :)

  • ChefGaby January 6th, 2009 at 09:17 #

Larcenette, you can just remove the js files from the header and the theme will use the default font which should support french accents.

  • DavidMacLean January 18th, 2009 at 14:08 #

Hello GlamourGaby! I’ve installed your theme, it’s fantastic.

Just one question, I’ve added some widgets on my WP dashboard but they haven’t appeared. (Recent posts and tag cloud)

    Any idea why?

  • ChefGaby January 18th, 2009 at 15:53 #

Strange, the widget sidebar is installed so it should work.
I have no idea why it doesn’t work.

  • DavidMacLean January 18th, 2009 at 16:04 #

Oops, I was just being impatient it seems. Everything working fine now, just took an hour to update through my host.

    Thanks anyway.

    Nice nice theme. Thanks!!!

  • Dave Parizek February 20th, 2009 at 11:18 #

Any possibility you would consider porting this theme to be also a Drupal theme? I would be willing to pitch in $100 towards the effort if you were interested, and I do not need the javascript parts…

  • Kevin February 20th, 2009 at 12:10 #

How do I add a logo image next to the blog title on the header? Please help….

  • Dave Parizek February 22nd, 2009 at 01:35 #

Actually cancel my request on a Drupal port. I like wordpress better anyway. But thanks for a incredibly nice theme! You can see it at my site without the javascript parts if you want.

  • C March 2nd, 2009 at 05:42 #

Hi! Any update/modification for accepting spanish accents at blog title-subtitle and posts titles?

  • marco March 3rd, 2009 at 18:49 #

Hi GG, I really like your theme Bella, but it seems to have some problems with images overlay (like lightbox, ecc) the post title, and other txt still remain over the images.
What do you think about it?
    thx for your work!

  • ChefGaby March 5th, 2009 at 07:11 #

Marco, I don’t know how that can be fixed. The only idea I have at the moment would be to disable the sIFR from the theme.

  • marco March 5th, 2009 at 08:47 #

Yes, is what I’ve done, and now it works fine…thankyou!

  • Cristi March 7th, 2009 at 05:45 #

Hello Gaby and thank you for this very simple but beautiful theme! I would like to know how I can unable the sIFR as I am using Lightbox for images on my site and the post title are always over the big images!

  • ChefGaby March 7th, 2009 at 06:00 #

    Hi Cristi,
If you want to disable the sIFR then open header.php and delete anything that mentions sifr. You will have 2 css files, some css directly under that, then 2 js files and then some more javascript code under that.

  • Cristi March 7th, 2009 at 06:07 #

    Will do! Thank you!

  • jane March 8th, 2009 at 23:02 #

i like this theme, but i wanted a 3-column. and dont know how to do it myself. hope to see a 3-column soon

  • jane March 9th, 2009 at 00:52 #

nevermind, I just studied how the sidebar() works and I managed to create a 3 column bella that works perfectly fine in IE or firefox browser. But of course the credits is still yours, I did not remove it.. I will let you show our site when its finished coz right there’s no content and not ready to public.

  • ed March 9th, 2009 at 22:39 #

Hi, great theme, really an original design. I loaded it up for my blog, but all the color bars are missing. Any idea where I went wrong? I’m a total amateur, so it could be something very, very basic. Thanks.

  • ChefGaby March 10th, 2009 at 08:54 #

Maybe you did not upload all the images. Try uploading the theme again.

  • ed March 12th, 2009 at 22:18 #

uploaded the zip file again, but it didn’t help. Any other suggestions?

  • ed March 15th, 2009 at 00:14 #

Uploaded the files again, this time one at a time and it now works. Thanks for the tip.

New question: How can I add a box that would allow readers to submit suggestions?

  • Laura April 4th, 2009 at 14:34 #

    Hi GlamourGaby.

Thank you very much for this theme I am using for a few months now.
I am just wondering if it is possible to remove the “points” before a link in the sidebar ?

    Thank you again, cheers !

  • ChefGaby April 5th, 2009 at 11:15 #

Hi Laura. To remove the images from the links in the sidebar just open style.css and look for:
    .sidebar li a {
    Then delete this:
    padding-left: 12px;
    background: url(img/bullet.jpg) left center no-repeat;

  • Laura April 5th, 2009 at 12:39 #

    Hi GlamourGaby

Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you for your theme too, I really like it.

    Cheers !

I have an issue displaying Search boxes and submit buttons for widgets in the Sidebar (not the WP original search form).

the search boxes are all white, on a white background, hence do not show.

the submit buttons are very very small

This is in FireFox 3.08 only, in IE7 it works alright.

Please let me know how to fix this.

Great Theme – but is there a way to make it able to use ä ö ü in the titles?

    Greetings from Germany!

  • ATW June 17th, 2009 at 12:27 #

I would love to know how to change the theme to a three column… Is this too dificult?

  • Stephanie June 24th, 2009 at 16:50 #

Hi, I love your theme and recently started using it on my site, but I’ve noticed that old comments with individual pages aren’t showing up. The bubble says how many comments there are, but they don’t show up. Comment for individual blog entries work just fine. Any ideas of how I can fix this? (I’ve already checked that the setting allow for comments and pingbacks.)

  • ChefGaby June 24th, 2009 at 18:22 #

I’m glad you like the theme. I see you still use it. If you need any help just comment here.

The input and buttons problem is because I use a css reset at the beginning of the css file. If you apply a bit of css to the inputs and the buttons in the sidebar then it will look great. Add some borders and some padding to them and they will look the same as normal.

Those are in index.php and also single.php and page.php(if you have that file)

    @John(guitar avatar)
The font size for the titles can be changed from header.php

    1. I see you already did some modifications to the theme. May I recommend that you change the tags class, from the css file, to 400pixels? I think it will look better.
    2. Open header.php, delete the h1 and h2 tags and put the code of an image there. The code looks like this:
    <a href=”URL OF YOUR BLOG”><img src=”IMAGE URL HERE” alt=”” /></a>

There are 2 ways, you either disable the sIFR from the theme by deleting the JavaScript lines for sIFR or you create your own swf file of the font and include those characters in the swf file. You can do this by downloading the sIFR package and editing the raw .fla file with Macromedia Flash.

If you need another column then you edit the css file a bit and you make the .all class lets say 970pixels.
Then you edit sidebar.php copy everything in there and duplicate it at the end of the file and then edit the content as you like. I hope that works. Hopefully :P

See if you have a page.php file and delete it or rename it to _page.php or something. Maybe that help. Let me know.

hello dolcepixel. i thought that bella theme was very nice. but, one problem is, the theme using many flash like in title and date widget. did you know when we scroll the mouse over the flash content, the mouse will stop…

i thought only that the fatal problem. do you want to repair that..???

  • Sarah July 2nd, 2009 at 13:36 #

    Hi GlamorGaby,
Thanks for your great theme. I’m having the same problem as Stephanie: comments don’t work on pages. When I downloaded the Bella theme it didn’t come with a pages.php file. In fact, I uploaded a pages.php file from another theme, and the comments worked (but of course the formatting was messed up). Thoughts?

  • ChefGaby July 2nd, 2009 at 19:06 #

    @Robert Hitler
I don’t have that problem in firefox. Can anyone else confirm this?

I think I know what the problem is. Just duplicate the file single.php and rename it to page.php. That should do the trick.

  • Sarah July 3rd, 2009 at 16:36 #

I duplicated single.php, named it page.php, and when I clicked on a page link nothing would load (it would go to a blank screen). Ideas?

  • cosmin July 14th, 2009 at 12:26 #

Thank You for the Bella theme.

  • litokoolgrl July 19th, 2009 at 12:21 #

How do I put a banner up? I searched online and says to switch with either banner or header but I can’t find either one of them in images with the ftp client… what do I do…?

  • ChefGaby July 19th, 2009 at 12:28 #

You’re not making much sense. I don’t know what you are trying to do.

  • RD August 11th, 2009 at 13:15 #

Can ads be used with this theme?

  • guest September 6th, 2009 at 12:50 #

GlamourGaby can you tell us how to make swf file with custopm font. I’ve tried to do this but only what i can se is “Bold Italic Normal” text generated in all sIFR swf files :/

  • Andy September 29th, 2009 at 09:59 #

    Hi GlamourGaby!

Great theme, exactly what I was looking for! I just wanted to add something to the sIFR/lightbox issue. I was experiencing the same problem in that the sIFR objects stay on top of lightbox images. There’s a simpler fix to it then disabling sIFR completely. All you need to do is add the following line in header.php:

    ,wmode: ‘transparent’ });

    So it’ll look like this:

    sIFR.replace(fagocotf, {
    selector: ‘.logo h2′
    ,css: [ ‘.sIFR-root { text-align: left; font-weight: bold; color: #c3c5c5; }’ ] ,wmode: ‘transparent’ });

I hope this helps. Keep up the great work!

  • Ken November 25th, 2009 at 08:09 #

    Hey GlamourGaby,
I’ve used your web theme on one of my websites. It has more than 90,000 posts and I had to adapt it in order to overcome WordPress performance issues.

The main reason to use your theme was:
    1. Simplicity.
    2. Nice and clean.

If you take a look to the site you’ll see I had to take out the flash fonts, disable comments all over the site and made some adjustments. I’m not a graphic designer, so some of the things I’ve done might not be good for the site’s aesthetics, but they got the job done.

    Thanks for the great theme!
And keep adding value to the WordPress community!

  • Moises January 29th, 2010 at 08:19 #

    Hi, i have problems with some characters like “á é ç ú ã”.
But i like the font style on the titles and i want preserve this.
With CSS3 you can make the same trick, without Javascript or Flash, you just use CSS.

But i dont have this font, so, you can send-me to make this trick with CSS?

    Thank you!

  • pigi February 16th, 2010 at 05:24 #

Hi,This is pigi. I tried this theme and find it does not support Chinese. Could you please add the Chinese font “Microsoft YaHei” for the theme?

  • pigi February 16th, 2010 at 07:02 #

And I find there’s something wrong with “audio-player” when use your theme, it doesn’t work at all…How can I solve this problem? I’m a podcaster :)

Thanks very much for your great job!

  • February 28th, 2010 at 05:17 #

    Hi GlamourGaby,

great theme! i was wondering if:
    – it is possible to enlarge the blog title;
    – it is possible to remove the ‘take it, it’s free’ text near the rss feed.

    Thanks again!

    • ChefGaby March 1st, 2010 at 07:38 #

In your header.php file look for:
      .sIFR-active .logo h1{
Under that, change the font size from 26px to 35px for example.

To change the “take it, it’s free” text you will need to edit the rss image. You will find that image in “img” directory of the theme.

  • ChefGaby March 1st, 2010 at 07:45 #

Did you try to use ads before asking?

The text “bold italic normal” is what you are supposed to see. The titles are generated on the fly from that document.

Thank you for the fix. I will see when I can pack another version and include your fix. Thanks.

If you need another font then you can download the sIFR package and create yourself some new sfw files with the fonts that you need. ( )

What exactly do you mean when you say the audio-player doesn’t work? It doesn’t show up at all or it shows up broken? The theme should work just like any other theme but I haven’t tested any audio-player with the theme.

  • Shawn Hevel March 14th, 2010 at 09:18 #

My wife loves this theme and I’ve been tweaking it a little to add a few things. One thing I’m having a hard time figuring out it is: How to increase the color swatch down the left side of the page? My wife would like to see this double in size.

How would you go about doing that?

    • ChefGaby March 14th, 2010 at 11:47 #

In your images folder you have a file named bg.jpg
That is the image displayed in the left side of the blog.
You can edit that image and make it the desired width or you can use this image (which is exactly double the width of the current image)

  • Shawn Hevel March 14th, 2010 at 11:50 #

Thanks for a prompt response. I will test this out. Thanks,

  • Shawn Hevel March 15th, 2010 at 16:58 #

I’ve got everything set up and working great. One thing I noticed was: In a new browser session the site loads faster on a Mac machine then a PC machine. One thing I’m looking at doing is reducing the file size of the sifr.js file based on some research I did. Someone created a sifr-lite.js file. Did you ever do this with Bella? Can it be done? I would like to see the response time reduced to less than 2 seconds. Currently it is as high as 15 seconds depending on the speed of the network.

I tested this situation above on IE7, IE8, Firefox, Opera, Chrome & Flock.

  • ChefGaby March 22nd, 2010 at 06:38 #

    @Shawn Hevel
A lite version of a js file is the same file but it just has all the white spaces and returns taken out. That way the file becomes a bit smaller. In essence the file is still the same so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

    To everyone asking for help:
don’t just ask if something can or can’t be done or if it works or not. Test it/try it and see if it does and if it doesn’t then ask here. Don’t be lazy :)

  • lulu May 15th, 2010 at 12:14 #

Hey Gaby, I’m trying to modify the box of comments. But When I edit the COMMENTS.PHP nothing happens. What I have to do?

Thanks for the greatest theme! ^^

  • ChefGaby May 21st, 2010 at 17:44 #

Maybe you have wp-super-cache activated and the pages are loaded from cache instead of showing you the new version of a page.

  • Jenny May 22nd, 2010 at 16:13 #

it’s a nice theme but the colours are kinda turning me off of it.

  • Lynn May 27th, 2010 at 07:58 #

Love the theme. However, I’ve been trying to change the size of the headings in the sidebar (make them smaller) and haven’t had luck. I’ve tried adding “font-size: 16px) to the h2 definition in the css file, but that doesn’t do anything. I’ve also changed the h2 to an h1 (after making sure the color and size was set correctly in the css file) in the sidebar file, but that doesn’t keep the right formatting.

Has anyone had any luck changing the heading size in the sidebar?

  • ChefGaby May 27th, 2010 at 08:03 #

Open the file header.php and look for:
    .sIFR-active .sidebar h2{

Change the font size there and then hit CTRL+F5 to clear cache.

  • Lynn May 27th, 2010 at 08:11 #

    Fantastic – that did it!

    Thank you so much!

  • Feuille September 17th, 2010 at 03:34 #

I already solve this problem! I disabled the sIFR from the theme by deleting the JavaScript lines for sIFR~ I got this from your earlier comments. Thank you anyway~~

I love this theme, thanks @GlamourGaby, it’s perfect! I’ve been switching between themes for a while now – altering, tweaking, adjusting, venting, yelling, deleting and starting over. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for… well, I’m sure I’ll make some edits, but it is the perfect simple theme with just enough color. Check it out at Thanks again!

Quick question surrounding pages, at present they are located at the bottom of the page, is it possible to move these to the top of the page?

    • ChefGaby January 13th, 2011 at 17:57 #

To add the pages at the top you need to edit the theme.
Open footer.php and copy the hole div named: <div class=”footer_left”>
Open header.php and paste the code under:
      </div> <!– HEADER –>
      <div style=”clear”></div>

then add another <div style=”clear”></div> after that and edit out the “Top” link and stuff like that.

      Hope it looks good.

    Hi GlamourGaby,

I’m in love with this theme and i’m currently using it for my blog, i have made some adjustments thnx to some of your useful help on the thread, but there are a couple other things i want to change and can’t figure out how…

    1. How can i change the font colors of the sidebar, both title and links

2.Is there any way to put “author” and “category” at the bottom of the post rather then the top?

    3. how do change the font size of the post, they look so small

    4. Is there any way to change the font size of the header without making the post titles bigger as well?

i saw you explained how to make the color bar image on the left bigger but where do i do those adjustments? do i have to look for the file in the folder and re-install the theme?

Thank you so much for your help

    • ChefGaby January 30th, 2011 at 15:07 #

      1. Open style.css and change the color of “sidebar h2″ and “sidebar li a”
      2. Open index.php, search the div with the class “post_info” and move it under then change the width of the div from the css
      3. Open style.css, search for “.entry {“, add “font-size: 14px;”(or other size). If the text lines are crossing each other then change “line-height” to a higher number.
      4. Open header.php, search for “.sIFR-active .logo h1{“, change “font-size”
      5. Open the directory “img”, search for the file named “bg.jpg”, edit the file in your favorite image editor and double it’s size. For example in PS you would open it, make the canvas area bigger then copy paste the image multiple times.
No need to reinstall the theme for any of these modifications.
