You can do anything you like with it as long as you don't sell it.
Open the sidebar.php file with a text editor and before the closing of the sidebar div add this code:

You can change 1 with 2 or 3. Depending on what color you want.
Your theme is licensed under GPL? Then, you cannot place a no sale restriction on the use of your theme.
Now, the right thing for people to do would be to not sell your hard work, but it's certainly not an enforceable rule.
This is just a head's up. The folks at WP tend to look at themes as straight code and don't realize the creativity and artistic value of the graphics/CSS coding that goes into each individual theme and it's the reason why some WP theme designers don't agree with the GPL/GPL compatible license rule.
Is there any way to add another sidebar box with its own catagory of links iside it?

I did that already but I have the problem where I cannot open a new box for a separate category – for example if I want to add a new box for Premium Sites and one for Free Sites they both end up in the same box, that is they automatically default to the box containing the link:
I think the problem is that no sidebars are defined.
I'll try and fix it using wordpresses recomendations and see how it goes.

i've installed it on my blog, but it's broken.
i don't know what's wrong with the theme, but the images on the themes does not appear.
since i'm using linux, i didn't upload it via ftp. i used file manager on my cpanel, and i upload it one by one. did i miss something?

We've tried this theme, we like it very much, it's exactly what we were looking for, nice and clean.
Unfortunately, the right column seems to be broken for some urls, when we've tried to activate the theme in our site. In the wordpress site, you can see that too, in the preview, here: http://wp-themes.com/dum-dum/

We finally managed to use your really great theme, in our site, but we have a question about unordered lists.
It seems like the litle black point falls over the side line, you can see that here:

We are two people here, and we have a bet about that, my friend thinks it's a mistake that needs to be fixed, it should be moved to the right.
But actually, given the obvious quality of your work, and given the fact that I don't think that's 'ugly', I think you made those on purpose that way, over the line.
Sorry if we ask too much about a free theme, we are willing to pay/donate/whatever if that's necesary.
So what's it gonna be? a bug or a feature?

I think in about 2-3 weeks. I have some other projects at the moment plus I would like to release the photo blog theme before I release the widget ready theme.

What a phenomenal theme! I'm new to wordpress, so I'm assuming I'll figure out a lot of stuff in the future, like how to add an image to the header, or alter the blogroll (probably a basic dashboard thing) but I'm BLOWN AWAY by how great this theme is in its look and can't wait for the widget-ready version.

Obviously the theme doesn't support widgets, although a lot of theme databases claim it would. So I was a little confused at first. I'm looking forward to the widget-ready version, too. It's such a light and friendly theme.

The "postmetadata" line has some problems. I don't see why it expands like this but it doesn't look very nice.

I see you have don't have the theme in the original directory but rather in the "default" directory.
Copy the theme in the directory "dum-dum" and activate it from the admin panel. Don't just copy the theme files in the directory "default".
okay you are a super duper genius, when I went into my default directory I saw that I had duplicates of the files which was causing the problem as well. Thanks again for such an amazing delicious design – you've made my life all that more marrrrrrrrrvelous!

I would love to use the theme…and I am sure there is an easy answer to this…. how can I remove some of the nav buttons along the top and in sidebar. Some of the pages being displayed are subpages and I don't want direct nav to them.

If you want the pages to only show top level links than you have to not use a widget for the box 1 and add the same code as in the header for the box 1.
I will use Dum-Dum at the point it supports blockquotes… Please, please make that to work for the next version.

it's me again – i also noticed that the blockquote wasn't working, viewing the source the only difference I noticed was even in code view when I add the tags they do not save in the source file …any suggestions?
So you are saying that you add the "blockquote" tag in the article and you don't see it in the page?
If that is the case than its not something from the theme.
The link from a few comments up is from an article that has blockquotes in it and it works fine.
I don't think I understand the problem entirely.
What happens is the image (quote) does not appear. The blue dotted line box works fine, any clues, if you go:

The widget works fine but the colours for the most of the sideboxes are only yellow, instead of mixture of the three.
Can that be fixed?
There are 3 sidebars. Each one with its one color.
Box1 is yellow wile the rest are different colors.

Blockquotes: Yes, in articles it works but even not in comments. When you quote others conclusion you fast want to use blockquotes.

): I can't reorder the widgets "pages", "archive" and "links" (blogroll) in the sidebar cause they are fixed in Dum-Dum. "Pages" is always on top, archive and links always at the bottom. It would be nice if that were possible…

Ah, you're right with "pages". But the other two not, they are fixed. I even haven't drop they into my widget box in the WP administration, they are simply there without an entry:

OK, wonderful. But the original links widget from Dum-Dum is so splitted in two widgets as you can see on my site. One "Blogs" and one "Podcasts" how my both links categories. But this is no big thing for me.

The Plugin works but if I want to comment in the normal commentzone the layout does not display the images. btw the guestbook works with the commentfunction from wordpress.

I do not know that plugin.
The code for my theme all validates so there isn't any bad code.
If you activate that plugin and it messes up your comments than that means the problem is from the plugin not the theme.

Thank you for your lovely theme. I am new to WordPress and your theme. My question: I am using the three styles of sidebars (three different colors), but I can't seem to arrange them such that the colors alternate. It puts all the box-1's, followed by all the box-2's, followed by all the box-3's. Is there a way to alternate them: box-1, box-2, box-3, box-1, box-2, box-3, etc.?
If you want to do this just from the admin panel then no.
You would have to edit sidebar.php file and create new boxes and add your content in them.

If you want to add another box to your sidebar then you need to first open the file sidebar.php
Look for:

I will not forwarded to the beginning of the comments area of the article page when I click on the "x Comments" link. Try this e.g. with your own demo site.

I love this theme. I admittedly don't know much about this stuff. I haven't added any plugins or anything like that. Since I started using Dum Dum none of my guests comments show up. It shows the following error.

I can see the comments when I login into the admin page. Can you help with this ?

I think the problem is the fact that you didn't upgrade to the latest wordpress version.
Try to upgrade and tell me after that if that fixed it.

Is there a way to have the pages in the top header have a drop down menu for the subpages (child pages)? Right now the sub pages show as pages.

Hi there, I love this theme and it is perfect for my blog (http://popdiscourse.com/). However, the one glitch is that the custom header appears on index.php but not if you click on a permalink or category archive.
This code: is inserted properly at each Main Index Template, Page Template, and Single Post.
Can you advise? I'd love to keep using this template but if I can't get this sorted out I'll probably (sadly!) have to find a template where the headers work on all pages.

You just have a small error in your code.
Open header.php and look for:
images/popdiscourse_logo.jpg
Replace that with the full url of the image which is:
http://popdiscourse.com/images/popdiscourse_logo.jpg
After this it will work.

Hi! I'm having problems with the post count, it went from #1 to #64 for my 2nd post to #97 for my third post! Help!
The post number is actually the post ID from the wordpress database. So if you have lots of revisions to articles, or you create an article and then delete it, the numbers will not be in incremented order.
Please, can you tell me where in the CSS I can make the post's layout wider? If that is not a too big thing… Thank you very much!

Hi, I'm using 1.4.1 and I'm not sure I understand why the text for the comment link in the comments.php is the date of the comment, isn't it misleading? Why not something like the usual 'permalink'?
And you do not need to specify the date format, using the method with no parameters uses the format the user set in his wordpress settings.

How can I utilize drop down menus? When I add sub-pages it jumbles my main pages menu and shows some of the sub-pages as main pages.

The comment field is not working on individual pages – for example, the downloads page. How can I make comments work on pages?
If you want the comment form to show up in the individual pages you have to delete the page.php file and then duplicate the file single.php and rename it as page.php

Hello, i little redesigned my blog (and your theme again) and i wanna ask, is it possible, that search will not search at pages? Or how i can added another template for searching. I mean, now when i search, i CANT choose how it will looks like. Its always vie "index.php". Can u help?
I'm really loving the theme/design of your site. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems? A number of my blog visitors have complained about my website not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Firefox. Do you have any advice to help fix this issue?
Lane, I checked the theme in IE and I don't see any problems(except a small glitch with the top menu).
But if you have friends using IE convert them to Firefox-ism

i am currently editing it to my preference and i am having some trouble. The mini icon besides the author's name, i want to change it, how would i change it? since i can't seem to figure out how :/

thanks! but how would i change that image? since i've found where that image is located in the style.css but i have no clue how to change it.
U can overwrite it (just upload your new image – same size – instead of "img_19.jpg" with same name to same place. It has to do via FTP).
If u dont want it there, just go to style.css, find ".postauthor" and delete. There few more ways how to delete, but this is simple)
Maybe I wasn't too clear on the solution, but like Ajvngou said, you should login to the ftp of the blog, find the image in the directories(that is why I added the image url) and upload a new image with the same name.

Question that I haven't seen answered yet – is it possible to make the main content section wider? I've looked through the CSS files, but can't find where that is set or how to modify it.

Changing the width of the article area is not that easy.
First you will need to change the width from these two classes:
.all {
.content {
Increase both sizes with an equal increment.
Then you will need to resize the following images:
wp-content/themes/dum-dum/images/img_08.jpg
wp-content/themes/dum-dum/images/img_09.jpg
